Kidgets from Family Dollar

Family Dollar has a new line of kids clothing called Kidgets that they asked me to review.  I was more than happy to participate because I am a huge fan of inexpensive children's clothing.  I have three kids.  And although I will admit that there are lots of stores out there with super cute clothing, I  have no desire to dress my kids in an outfit that cost $100 and then send them outside to play in the dirt.

My kids love markers and popsicles and mud, grass and Play doh and paint.

I don't like to cry when I do the laundry.

But I also don't want to spend ANY money on clothes that are going to fade and shrink beyond use after the first wear.

Kidget outfits come with three pieces and the clothes the sets they sent me range from $6 - $8.  That is like $2 to $2.75 a piece.  And you can get a coupon right HERE for $1 off.

For the girl it is a pair of shorts and two coordinating tops:

This is Ruby in her cute butterfly shirt that she loved:

The sizing on some of the clothes runs a little big.  Ruby is almost 3 and this is an 18 months outfit.  The shorts and one of the shirts fit her perfectly, but the second shirt (that had sleeves) was a little snug.  luckily they didn't shrink in the wash at all.  She is wearing the outfit again today.  She sort of pick a favorite outfit and likes to wear it every time it is clean:

If you are wondering why she is wearing an 18 month outfit it is because I didn't tell them the the age of my kids.  Whoops!

The baby outfits come with two onesies and a pair of shorts:

And the little boy clothes come with a t-shirt and a button up over shirt that can be worn together or separate, and again, a pair of shorts:

They wear well, they are well made (nothing frays, no buttons come off, etc) and they have some pretty cute designs.  I mentioned that they didn't shrink and they also didn't fade in the first wash.  And my favorite part, they are really inexpensive!  The perfect price to pick up a few extra outfits to let the kids play in this summer and not have to change them into something else just to take them out into public.

They even sell sandals and sunglasses.  Can I tell you how much my girls love sunglasses.  Doesn't every little girl?  But they also like to leave them in the shopping cart or drop them at the zoo.  Inexpensive sunglasses are a good thing!

Family Dollar wants to give one of my readers a $50 gift certificate to their store.  At Family Dollar, $50 goes a long way.

To enter, just leave a comment and tell me the most expensive piece of clothing your kids have ever ruined!   Or you can tell me your kids are perfect and never spill anything.

For a second entry, check out Family Dollar on Facebook.  Just leave another comment to tell me you did.

If you want to share the giveaway with your readers, followers, fans, I will give you another entry.  You can use your blog, Facebook, or Twitter.  Again, just leave another comment.

You have until midnight on Thursday, June 17th, to enter.  Good luck!

I was contacted by Family Dollar and asked to review their new clothing line.  They sent me two outfit sets to review and are also providing one of my readers a $50 gift card to Family Dollar.

  1. First of all, Ruby is a cutie:)The most expensive piece of clothing ruined was something my inlaws bought my son-a 3 piece suit to wear. Needless, to say he went outside to play-grass stains

  8. Oh the stains my kiddos make. I don't like to spend a lot of money and am a pretty savvy shopper, if I do say so myself! BUT! We had just bought my daughter her new winter coat last year. It was pink and had fur and was beautiful! Spent $60 on it I believe. She took it to school and wore it at recess. She did the swings. Black marks galore all on the sides. THEN she left it in the wood chips, fur side down. We are still picking wood chips out of the fur.
It's a good thing I love her so much!
Family Dollar has some really cute stuff! My youngest loves the fun sandals. Great deal!

  12. I had just bought my son several pairs of new clothes for the school year. Darn Pizza place. Darn mini pack of crayons in his pocket. Darn dryer. I also don't like crying while doing the laundry. kayleentheobald at hotmail dot com

  13. How awesome is it that they have three piece sets for so cheap and of course that the 18mo fit her! How adorable! I don't have any kids but am a nanny and I cannot even begin to recount how many clothes have been ruined or severely stained!!

  14. I'm like you, if it's expensive I don't have it... Or at the very least I didn't buy it (usually it's a gift or something). The most expensive thing that my son has ruined up to this point is a new pair of jeans that he got for his birthday. They were oh so cute on him, but active boy that he is, he put a hole in the knees after wearing them just a couple of times. :(

  15. Anything expensive is considered a special occasion item in our home, so anything ruined would simply be retired as a keepsake :) But I have seen chocolate cake on an $195 flower girl dress.

  17. Your daughter is such an adorable little one; wish she could play with my three-year-old niece/"grandchild," Bella! The most expensive item my darlings ever ruined was a a gorgeous white "fur" bonnet for an older niece which Auntie couldn't resist getting for her. The same day, she got chocolate on the pom-pom ties. We used our family's favorite "yellow soap", but finally had to trim off the poms. Sigh.

  18. My kids usually ruin brand new things...as in only a few min old. If it is already old and dingy, it will stay clean for ever..but if it is brand new...forget about it.

    Cute clothes!

  20. i buy their clothes for my four grands and they have always held up well for the abuse they put them through. my oldest grand ruined a pretty dress with a cup of grape kool-aid. that stain was never coming out!!

  21. as a rule we don't even buy expensive outfits for my daughter, so we haven't ruined that much that made me cry, but a friend got her the CUTEST dress white with a lovely floral print. I'm sure it was expensive becuase she has no kids and thinks even "expensive" kids clothes are cheap. Well the first time she wore it a fresh cherry fell out of her mouth and rolled down the whole front. OH well.

  23. I have blocked out the memories of most of the laundry disasters that we have had (and with 5 boys and now a little girl, we have had a LOT!) - but the thing that is most likely to render one of our outfits "unwearable" is when it comes out of the dryer completely wrinkled...life is too short to iron baby/kid clothes!

  24. My darling daughter got purple permanent marker on a BRAND new Carter's shirt that I loved. Thankfully treating it repeatedly with OxyClean spray took it out, but I was in tears when it firts happened.

  29. SO FAR the only thing my 5mo. old has ruined was his Babies R Us all white 3 piece baby blessing outfit. I took him to change his diaper about 5 minutes before church started there was a diaper explosion. . . oh man. . . I'm sure it's just the beginning of my adventures in ruined clothing.

  30. I try and change my kids before going outside, but most of them are ruined anyway! There was a $20 outfit that got ruined the first time he wore it! It doesn't sound like much, but I cried anyway....

  34. I would assume the most expensive thing was my son's brand new football cleats. Leaving them outside in the snow was not a good thing.

  35. I haven't let my little guy have anything expensive as of yet, but I did make him a white blessing outfit that he decided to have a blowout in. Luckily, it came out, but oh I was ready to have a heart attack.

  36. I generally do not buy that expensive of clothing for my children. So it is more likely that they ruin one of my clothes with messy hands and faces!!

  37. sis in law bought my daughter a expensive white sundress. While at church she got grape juice spilled on her and ran into another child who had a permanent marker. 1st and last time she wore a white dress to church :)

  39. My daughter was wearing this gorgeous pale yellow dress that my mom had bought at nordstroms and all the little cousins found their way into all of my mom's paint. Now it is covered in black spots :(

  40. OH, I'm really picky about what my kids can do in their "nice" clothing. I make them go change into PJs if we're eating or doing something else messy:) But my girls did have these beautiful silk Christmas dresses that were dry clean only... can you see where this is going? It got dirty, I was too cheap to take it to the dry cleaners - it washed....OK, but needless to say it wasn't worn much after that.

  41. by putting crayons in their pockets (and then their momma not checking said pockets before doing laundry) several uniform shirts and Old Navy clothes were ruined. Ugh!

  42. i'm with you on the inexpensive clothing.. my son is SO messy. in fact, right now he's wearing a $2 clearance tshirt from walmart that says, "MESSY" so he's never actually destroyed anything that was worth any big bucks because i know better than to bother with it! actually, before he was the big mess-maker i only bought cheap stuff because they grow out of it so quickly anyway!

  43. lol, brady has reflux and it almost 8 months old and still pukes. Orange puke is much harder to get out of clothes than milky pukes. So, pretty much half his clothing. I shop cheap. :)
